Hey guys, I finally got my VR headset (Meta Quest 2) and wanted to try HL ALyx. I downloaded a repack (from FitGirl), installed it, added it to my steam library (and VR library).
There is no "best" VR headset. Each one has its pros and its cons. Index has great FoV and controllers but is showing its age in terms of its resolution and lenses; Pimax have great FoV and resolution but also has issues with stability for some, Reverb G2 has a great screen but controls and tracking are inferior compared to other headsets, etc.
Half life alyx was designed to work with every headset, meaning you can get anything and get an amazing experience. If you want wireless then I'd say either the Oculus Quest 1 or 2 or any vive headset that works with the wireless adapter.
The Oculus Link cable allows you to use the Quest 2 as a PCVR headset. Unless you're playing a Quest ecosystem game (which Alyx is not) you still need the PC. No, quest can't run windows games it's an basically a mobile phone at its core so no you can't do that. You could get a shadow virtual pc, and stream half-life Alyx and other pcvr games

Usually Vr games are a lot less clumsy then regular games. You are just used to playing games with keyboard/mouse or a controller. If you know somebody that never played a real first person Videogame in his life (like maybe your girlfriend or their friends) let them play half life 2 for an hour and half-life Alyx. Half Life Alyx only black screen. everything works on my Q2 except Alyx. It does load, i see valve logo, later a stylized sand clock. Some strange sounds, too. But thats all. I doesnt load any further.
